Discusses his party's journey from Knox's house to Portland, and relates his plans to leave the next day for Philadelphia. Explains that he has met many of the noted inhabitants of the Portland area, and they seem to be ignorant about the nature of the lands to the eastward. Thanks Knox for his family's hospitality during Bingham's stay with them. Briefly touches on business and political matters.
