References Knox's letter of 22 September from Elizabethtown, New Jersey. Mentions his previous letters that are supposed to meet him on the road to Boston. Notes military guards were stationed outside the city to prevent people from Philadelphia spreading yellow fever. Encloses a newspaper (not included) to give Knox a sense of the fear the selectmen have. Also encloses letters from Captains Vose and Hill (not included). Gives an update on the house Knox wants built (Montpelier). Had hoped to see Knox by today, but understands the circumstances. Updates Knox on the taxes due on his lands. Asks Knox to send his regards to the Ogden family.
