At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Reports that Madame de Leval is very desirous of having a time fixed for an interview on the subject of her proposal. Believes that Sunday, 24 February, is a day of leisure for Knox, and suggests that they meet with her then. Tells Knox to name the hour and he will be there.
