Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Thanks Knox for his friendship and care. States that her finances force her to move to a more inexpensive area, but wishes she could afford to continue living near the Knox family. Discusses her own family finances. Invites Knox and his family to visit if they are ever in the area. Mentions her satisfaction with the British minister, and describes him.
