At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Indicates that he has enclosed a print that he wants Paul Revere to engrave immediately. Explains that he needs the engraving for a fold-out in a copy of Cook's Voyage he is printing. Rivington was a bookseller, printer, and journalist who came to America in 1760. He published Rivington's New-York Gazetteer.
