Complains about his inability to obtain a furlough, noting Governor Andrew Curtin granted a soldier from his company a furlough. Another man wrote to "Little Eddy," possibly Representative Edward McPherson, who granted him a furlough. Miller notes, "I cannot apply to the detestable McPherson."
