At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses family members health and the house, and Edward's gift ["cuft buttons"] to Aaron Jeffery. Annie lets little Virginia Archer write some to Edward which shows up as messy scribbling on pages 2 and 3. That which is legible reads: "I love you too / Uncle Ned I love you too." Also, mentions Aaron having to make [medical] house-calls to sick persons and his intention to go to a "meeting of the Medical Soc[iety]. tonight."
