Lovell stresses the need to gather as many troops as quickly as possible. The Union is threatening New Orleans, and Lovell realizes more troops will be needed to defend the city, so urges Moore to bring troops from other General's brigades to defend the city. New Orleans would fall to the Union three weeks later. Letter written on Confederate States of America stationary.
