Signed by "Holdernesse", Robert Darcy, Earl of Holderness and British Secretary of State for the Northern Department 1754-1761. Holdernesse signs based on the orders of King George III. Countersigned by Thomas Tyrwhitt as Under-Secretary at War and John F. Hesse. Hesse certifies that Lorimer's appointment has been entered in the Office of Thomas Gore, Commissary General of Musters. Appoints Lorimer to a battalion of foot led by James Stuart, Lieutenant Colonel Commandant. Issued at St. James Court. Contains a partial length of rectangular blue seal. Includes a royal stamp on verso depicting a crown and the letters "G R."
