At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Countersigned by Eleazer Waters at the Pay Table Office. List of accounts dated 16 March 1781 through 11 April 1781 listing officers or soldiers and the goods sent to them. Sundries include potatoes, beef, pork, wheat, and flour. Buell was Lieutenant Commander in the Continental Army.
