At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Describes a brief genealogy of the Goss and Twisden families. Comments on the contributions of men from Marblehead, Massachusetts, in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Penciled in notes on p. 3 reiterate the genealogy described. Author possibly Joseph W. Green, Jr. (as listed in the 1850 census) and probably the son of Joseph W. Green, who kept a diary of his time as a privateer and P.O.W during the War of 1812.
