At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Broadside advertising a concert at Bristol, Rhode Island town hall. Program is divided into two sets, with first set having 8 songs, then an intermission, and then a second set with 9 songs. Songs played by an orchestra, great chorus, chorus, and several solos. Note says "The Grant Piano used on this occasion is from the Warerooms of Geo. F. Newland, Providence." Another note says publications of the music can be had at Newland's store at 215 Westminster Street, Providence. Place written was made Rhode Island because of the reference to Providence.
