Regarding British troops in Charlestown. Greene reports on recent and important news regarding current military operations and those in the immediate future. In part: "Colonel Washington says great confusion is introduced in the business of getting the Militia into the field from their receiving counter orders; and begs me to desire you to apply through him for such men as you may want. You will...therefore to comply with his request....Col. Lawrence wrote me last night that by good intelligence from Charleston he had great reason to believe a large reinforcement said to be 3000 men was on their progress [?] from New York and within a day or two sailing at Charleston....Avail yourself of every opportunity to equip your men..."
