Visited with Amanda's uncle, Allen Goodridge, and her cousin as well. States that he has not been to Washington, D.C. for two months. Is worried that reports about casualties she receives are greatly exaggerated. Says he went down to where the enemy was and made a treaty with the Sergeant there not to shoot at each other. The enemy Sergeant was so pleased he shook his hand.
