At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Thanks him for his letter on behalf of the National Council of Churches of Christ about the Korean Armistice. Expresses his relief to see the end of the bloodshed in Korea and hopes for a lasting peace. Mentions that is necessary that the United States keep up the security effort to accomplish this. Addressed to Reverend Samuel McCrea Cavert, D.D., General Secretary, National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA. Note in pencil on letter states a copy was sent to Public Relations.
