One letter addressed to Hattie Figures from Henry S. Figures dated Camp Ala., February 19, 1862. Mentions that he requested shoes and $25. Henry tells his sister he has heard a rumor that there had been a "big fight in Kentucky" in which they [the Confederates] had lost 11,000 men, and Generals Beauregard and Pillow had been cut off.
