In partnership with the National Cemetery Administration’s Veterans Legacy Program, we are pleased to offer free professional development sessions in the spring of 2023 focusing on different aspects of American Veterans’ and Service Members’ lives on and off the battlefield and how to effectively bring that content back to the classroom.
As a part of this series, we are now offering online workshops at the following National Cemeteries from April 29 to June 3. Register now for the Their Full Measure series:
APRIL 29, 2023, 5:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m. ET
THEIR FULL MEASURE: AMERICAN SERVICE IN WORLD WAR I
Scholar: Prof. Kara Vuic (Texas Christian University)
Tour Site: Leavenworth National Cemetery
Master Teacher: Kory Loyola
Professor Vuic’s lecture will focus on the experiences of World War I Veterans, including groups that have been underrepresented in our histories because of race, ethnicity, or identity. The pedagogy portion of the workshop provides an opportunity to use primary source analysis to understand the wartime contributions of Americans from historically underrepresented groups. As a part of the workshop, participants will get a virtual tour of Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas.

THEIR FULL MEASURE: AMERICAN SERVICE IN THE WARS IN IRAQ & AFGHANISTAN
Scholar: Prof. David Kieran (Columbus State University)
Tour Site: Fort Logan National Cemetery

Professor Kieran’s lecture will focus on the experiences of Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, including groups that have been underrepresented in our histories because of race, ethnicity, or identity. The pedagogy portion of the workshop provides an opportunity to use primary source analysis to understand the wartime contributions of Americans from historically underrepresented groups. As a part of the workshop, participants will receive a virtual tour of Fort Logan National Cemetery in Colorado.

Professor Raynor’s lecture will focus on the experiences of Cold War Veterans, including groups that have been underrepresented in our histories because of race, ethnicity, or identity. The pedagogy portion of the workshop provides an opportunity to use primary source analysis to understand the wartime contributions of Americans from historically underrepresented groups. As a part of the workshop, participants will receive a virtual tour of Willamette National Cemetery in Oregon.

The pedagogy portion of the workshop provides an opportunity to use primary source analysis to understand the wartime contributions of Americans from historically underrepresented groups. As a part of the workshop, participants will receive a virtual tour of Togus and Acadia National Cemeteries in Maine.
