One hand-colored map dated approximatley 1846 printed by Humphrey Phelps. Contains the territory boundary lines for states in the Midwest, Southwest and expanding West. Also includes portraits of George Washington, Hernan Cortes, Montezuma. Phelps describes Aztec people and the temple in Teotihuacan with a brief history on the colonization of Mexico by the Spanish and summary of the Mexican-American War up to that point.
