One issue of The North American and Mercantile Daily Advertiser dated May 9, 1808. Contains many advertisements and notices of sale. Of particular note is a runaway slave ad for an enslaved person by the name of Joe Key. He is described as five feet six inches tall. The ad also notes that he formerly belonged to Dr. Thorton from Washington. He escaped from Marmaduke Williams a member of the North Carolina congress. There is also a sale notice for "A Negro Woman, who has about 12 years to serve, with a Male Child two years old. The Woman is accustomed to house work." The newspaper also contains articles of current world events and politics.
