One issue of Charleston Courier dated January 20, 1807. Consist mainly of shipping and public notices and lists of items for sale. Of particular interest is nine entries of ships selling enslaved people from the Congo, Mandingo, Angola, Windward coast, and Gold coast regions of Africa. The ships advertising the sales are; the Schooner James under captain Prebble carrying 80 enslaved people, the Brig Washington carrying enslaved people from the Windward coast, the schooner Edward & Edmund carrying 108 enslaved people from the Mandingo tribe, the ship John carrying 380 enslaved people from the Congo region, the ship Margaret carrying 150 enslaved people from the Mandingo tribe, the ship Nicholson carrying 360 enslaved people from the Congo region, the ship Union carrying 312 enslaved people from the Congo region, the ship Mercury carrying 400 enslaved people from the Angola region, the brig Little Ann carrying 81 enslaved people from the Gold Coast region. There is also an article discussing Arron Burr and his planning possible hostilities with Spain for personal gain.
