One page from the NEA (National Education Association) Journal dated November 1967. The article on the page is entitled "Make Way for Drop-Ins." The article by Vance Hartke is a statement on the need for education, and the GED (General Education Development) testing program. Hartke is advocating for the program and supporting programs to become more widespread. He wants to amend the Adult Education Act of 1966 to extend federal support to adults who want to become high school graduates. The current Act only helps get a basic, or elementary level, education. He also wants support and tutoring to be available in more states at a lower or supplemented cost to ensure access for all those that need or want to return to education.
