One issue of "The American Mercury" dated June 1947. Pencil notation on the cover reads, "P 706 Harlem's Aristocracy by Will Chasan." This essay is the only content of the publication. Article pertains to the history of the neighbhorhood, Sugar Hill in Harlem. This was the residence for many African American writers, poets, musicians, and NAACP leaders. Cover illustration is of Chiang Kai-Shek.
