Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One trading card from the Red Menace collection, "6. Landing at Inchon," depicting "GI" soldiers arriving on the shores of Inchon. Reverse side contains propaganda narrative that describes arrival of "GI" soldiers aiding the South Korean military. The narrative goes on to describe that the UN had "recaptured Seoul and kept going," and mentions "Chinese Reds strucks us from Manchuria."
