One framed medical device dated July 1938. Frame contains metal plate that was placed in Robert L. Stone's leg after a car accident when he was sixteen. The plate and screws were removed in January 1944 at March Field, California. The plate was removed as it caused medical issues during Stone's training. The planes provided no protection from the cold temperatures at high altitudes and caused issues with the metal plate.
