At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Addressed to "Folks." A brief postcard saying he and Don are doing great. Don includes a note that they had fried chicken at Pete's Steaks as they were out of steaks.

The postcard is an image of "Pete's Famous Steaks." There is a postmark stamp with "April 13." "Letters in a Box," notes the postcard was sent on April 13, 1944.
