At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

A check for fifty dollars to be cashed signed by Nannie J. Harvey. It is stamped with the words savings department near the bottom right hand corner. In the center of the document is a stamp with the logo of the People's National Bank. Accompanied deed between Aleas Sneed and Nannie Harvey (see GLC09587.389).
