At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe tells Sylvia to tell his mother not to get her hopes up for Christmas or any other time that he may be coming home. He writes that he has enclosed a leaf from one of those trees he mentioned with the nice smelling blossoms, but it is not included here.
