At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe mentions an incident at the barber shop where he was being worked on, and all of a sudden someone came in and said he was due to go to work at the depot later that night and needed his haircut right away. The barber was ready to stop what he was doing but Moe yelled at him to finish with him first. He won out.
