At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

V-Mail. Sylvia claims it was a lovely day and a little warmer. Still has no mail from Moe. Reports on friends he asked about in one of his last letters. Had to interview someone at work, between the malcontents who are all that is left at work [seeking aid from the NYC Welfare Department] and the psychotics at the draft board "she is really getting it."
