Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Written at 1:30 AM. Sylvia thanks him for his Valentine's poem. She is tired and has to stay late again tomorrow night at the Selective Service Board. Mad (sister) and Ben (her Sister's boyfriend) are going to the country and she will miss coming home to a warm, lighted house.
