At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Florey is letting Senator Bruce know what is going on in town and asking the Senator to send him a paper from Washington and copies of any public speeches he has. This letter is written on letterhead from another party, M.B. Sullivan. The letter is also torn in the upper right corner and a section of the paper is gone.
