At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

This letter has a few points at first Temple is asking for a job in the postal service as a train agent. Then he asks after a number of people in Washington DC. Specifically he mentions Professor Minon. He also mentions some redistricting that took place and which changed representatives for some districts.
