At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Announcement of the founding of the County of Bucks, as a result of the pettition mentioned in issues number 855. Printed speech by Governor William Shirley of Massachusetts Bay Colony regarding the successful landing of forces at Canso. Section reserved for announcing the indentured servitude of residents, the return of runaway slaves, and departing ships.
