At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Includes international news from various overseas newspapers. Order of King George III to the Governor of Jamaica regarding the laws of the Island of Ratan and the rights of its inhabitants. Domestic news and classified ads inhabit pages 3 and 4. Section reserved for announcing the indentured servitude of residents, the return of runaway slaves, and departing ships. Island of Ratan is now known as Roatan Island, Honduras.
