Discusses the "petition for a viewing Committee on the subject of removing the court house" and states that there are "6 or 7 hundred signers" in his town. Also, mentions that he will send the petition when signed to Hobart as has been agreed, so that he can "give them all the attention they may require."
Elijah Hayward was born in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, but spent most of his career in Ohio as a lawyer, vice president of the society for Ohio, judge of Supreme Court of Ohio, member of Ohio General Assembly, commissioner of the U.S. General Land Office, librarian of the state of Ohio, and historian and genealogist for Ohio and Massachusetts families.
