This document is a Presidential pardon in which President Andrew Johnson granted Philip D. Roddey a full pardon and amnesty from crimes committed during the rebellion. Roddey was nicknamed "the Swamp Fox of Tennessee." The pardon was countersigned by the Secretary of State William H. Seward and accompanied by a paper seal.
