Urges Langdon to accept the nomination for vice president, stating that his "services are necessary to the public weal. The Union must be consolidated by combining the strength of the Southern and Eastern States in the two highest offices of the Government." Praises Langdon and mentions the failed attempt to nominate Elbridge Gerry. Langdon declined the nomination.
