The fifth, sixth, and seventh articles of the Treaty of Ghent pertained to the establishment of various parts of the boundary between the United States and Canada. Van Ness was the commissioner for the section of the boundary outlined in article five and Peter B. Porter was the commissioner for the section outlined in articles six and seven. The report ends with a printed letter from Van Ness to Secretary of State John Quincy Adams regarding the execution of article five.
