At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

He has not written because he was busy and waiting for the Ohio which was delayed by the ice until the Thetis went in search of her. He has attended ballgames that begin at 8 pm and end before sundown. He is sending a Draft for $300 to be divided amongst the children. Due to the Presidential election, he does not expect the "financial horizon" to improve until next year.
