Farragut is wearing dress uniform with epaulettes. His left hand holds his sword, and his hat rests on a table to his left. Imprint on recto "W. Bienmuller, Phot." Graphite inscription on verso "9/02." Ink inscription on verso "D.G. Farragut Admiral U.S. Navy." Photographers imprint on verso: "Photographie W. Bienmuller Mention Honorable Rue Chauvain 3 Nice."

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
