Image shows a young boy holding the American flag, and a man who has lost both hands, standing next to a display on wheels of General Stanton's dispatch. Photographers imprint on verso: "'Glory to the Union!--The Stars and Stripes Forever!' Stanton's Official Dispatch, Dated, Tuesday, Jan. 17th, 1865. Troops arrive at Fort Fisher, Thursday, Jan. 12th; were landed Friday, Jan. 13; assault made Sunday, at 3 1/2 o'clock, P.M.; fight lasted seven hours; at 10 o'clock the Rebels were driven from the Fort, and at Midnight, Sunday, the Rebel Gen. Whiting surrendered to Terry. Explosion on Monday, Jan. 16th, between 6 and 7 o'clock, A. M. Bernard Toby" and "Fetter's New Photograph Gallery, Logansport, Ind. Two Operating Rooms. The best Gallery in the State."
