Pre-war picture [1850's ca.] of a young Lincoln. Inscription in Meserve's handwriting on verso: "Abraham Lincoln (Meserve No 12). Copied Mch 14 1944 from an 8 x 10 glass framed photograph (through the glass) owned by Mr. Kerr Rainsford with his kind permission. His photograph seemed to be an enlargment of a copy of the ambrotype (not reversed). F. H. Meserve."
