At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Distributed by the Committee on Drugs, Chemicals, Dry Salteries, and Paints, a division of the Office of the Committee on Labor, Income, and Revenue. The Committee on Drugs requests that druggists, chemists, dry salters, and paint manufacturers donate one day's labor, income, or revenue for benefit of the Great Central Fair. Created by Shoemaker as Chairman of the Committee on Drugs, and by H. B. Rosengarten as Secretary. Lists other committee members. Accompanied by an illustrated Great Central Fair for the Sanitary Commission envelope addressed to A. J. Everhart. Possibly transmitted in the same envelope as GLC04643.01.
