Wirz, the wife of the recently executed Captain Henry Wirz, denies Baker's allegation that she attempted to deliver a poison to her husband during one of her visits to him before he was convicted of war crimes at Andersonville Prison during the Civil War. Contends that Baker was angered by her claim that government officials committed perjury during her husband's trial and forbade additional meetings with her husband. Without money to support herself, she returned to Kentucky "Committing her husband to the care of his Maker, and submitting his fate to the honor and Justice of a shoulder strap Court, and the veracity [underlined] of corrupt, bribed and perjured witnesses." Sworn before the court in Twiggs County, Kentucky and certified on p. 3 by C. C. Hooks, the court clerk.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
