At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Also on the committee were J.H. Gordon, G.W. Goldsborough, James T. Briscoe, and Barnes Compton. Printed by E.S. Riley in Frederick, Maryland. Opposes all efforts to defeat rebellion in the Confederate States. Says "If a President of the United States, under the fraudulent pretence of suppressing unlawful combinations in Louisiana and Florida, could be permitted to call out troops, to be used for any purpose in Maryland or Virginia, no soil of any State would be free from invasion, and no right of the citizen anywhere would be secure against overthrow" (pg. 4). Claims the war is unconstitutional. Cover is of pink paper.
