Writes that he is still awaiting the arrival of Daly. Mentions a new rule that dictates that the morning reports written by Coit and other Adjutants are to be handed in by 9 a.m. Describes this as a hard task that he believes will get easier with time.

Annapolis, Md, Nov. 27 Evening before Thanksgiving Dear All, I have been very busy today, so that I was unable to write for the mail this AM Johnson (Harland's man) has just been here to tell me that Daly did not come by the train this evening as I expected. Yours of the 25th was recd this noon & I thought if Daly started the next morning he should reach here certainly this evening with his eatables which I shall find a place to store I imagine. The Adjutants now are obliged to hand in the morning reports to Genl Foster's headquarters before nine AM so I am very busy in the morning. this morning I began at six o'clock by candle light and had not a minute to spare with Guard mounting &c but this was the first one & I can make another in less time,. our new Asst. Adjt. Gen. southard Hoffman is a friend of c.c. Johnson & Charlie spoke to him of the Coln & myself & Hoffman spoke to me this morning, said C.C.J. wished to be remembered &c & I had quite a pleasant talk with him. I am much obliged to Charlie for my business will be principally with Capt. Hoffman & the introduction is very pleasant, I liked him very much, he is quite a young man I should judge. The inspections did not come off to day suppose it will be to morrow. I wish it was over. I have two orders to write on my books this evening & must not write more now will add something in morning if possible. Daly will be here in morning train I suppose.
