Writes to wife and children discussing whether or not they are to go to "Newlisbond." He expresses worry about his coming home and not finding them there, but also tells them "you needent stay at home on my account if you want to go for it is very doubtfull about getting a furlow here..." Inquires about any new recruits coming into the regiment. Discusses his coming home and questions whether or not they should use the money that it would cost him to come home for other things. "I dont want to spend that which you and the children kneed..." Encloses something for his sister, "this is to sister I found it in a cartrige box on a raid in a rebel camp."
