Writes to his wife from Camp California, reporting that he is well and hopes she is the same. Reports that he visited the War Department in Washington. Informs her that when he visited the capital he heard a number of speeches and went to the "presedents house and saw old abe [Abraham Lincoln] and shook hands with him..." Encloses five dollars in the letter. Letter is addressed to Masonville in Delaware County, New York. Written at Camp California.
