At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Contains Redmond's account information, signed by Peter Hagner, Auditor, and Richard Cutts, Second Comptroller of the Treasury, 11 September 1821. Signed by James Davidson Jr. of the Auditor's office and E. E. Reynolds of the Comptroller's office. Hagner signs again 17 September, certifying that transcripts (possibly transmitted with this document) are copies of originals on file in the Auditor's Office. Signed by William H. Crawford, Secretary of the Treasury, who attests that Hagner was auditor at the time he signed. Features paper seal.
