Four-paneled, printed Civil War map showing the Mississippi River from its mouth at the Gulf of Mexico up to St. Louis, Missouri and its junction with the Missouri River. Shows counties and towns, with inset drawings of major cities along the way. Oriented from the north along the river from the left panel to the right. Charles Magnus (1826-1900), a artist and printer, was one of the few printers who were allowed unlimited access to visit Union camps, hospitals, and even battlefields during the Civil War. He produced images through Charles Magnus & Co. in New York City. He is best known for his birds eye views and cityscapes.
